Uruguayan wines are internationally well knownste the perfect spot for recreation and relaxation..
At present, Uruguayan wines are promoted in more than 30 countries, according to the National Institute of Winemaking (INAVI). Brazil, USA, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Spain, France, Germany and Scandinavian countries are all importing Uruguayan wines.
Uruguay is the main producer of Tannat wines worldwide and the first to elaborate wines 100% Tannat grape, even though its origin is European. Recently, a 100% Tannat Uruguayan wine was awarded - Best Wine in the Southern Hemisphere - for which it received six golden medals at the - Vino Ljubljana 2003 - fair in Slovenia.
Some of Uruguayan wines were also awarded at the Challenge du Vin 2005, a French competition in which more than 4860 wines from more than 35 countries were presented. Our wines received a silver medal and two bronze medals
