Art: an opportunity to invest
Uruguay is well known for its art tradition. Torres Garcia, Figari, Cuneo and Gurvich are some of the renowned names seen in international art exhibitions. With a strong sensitivity and a mix of styles, oils, graphite drawings and sculptures leave the world in awe.
Lately, a wide number of artists have opened their ateliers and started to sell their work. As a result, investment in Uruguayan art has become very significant. Auctions in Montevideo and Punta del Este are only a reflection of its value. In 2004 some of these sales accounted for more than 300,000 American dollars.
